Service Description
Patients who have undergone cataract surgery can develop posterior capsule opacification (PCO) months or even years after the procedure. This occurs when the capsule that supports the inserted interocular replacement lens becomes cloudy. Patience may experience symptoms such as blurred vision, glare or halos similar to before they had the cataract operation performed.
PCO can be treated using a YAG laser to create a small opening in the cloudy capsule to allow restoration of the vision and decrease the symptoms of glare or halos.
Patient should expect to have a dilated examination and have the laser performed on the same day. In most cases within 24 hours an immediate improvement in the vision occurs and the patient can resume normal activities.
